Some believe that because everyone needs a place to live, governments should provide houses for those who are too poor to afford their own.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Housing is one of the basic needs for every human hence a group of prople holds the belief that authorities should facitilate shelter to poor. I fully disagree with the aforementioned idea because it will not only put pressure on the tax payers but also probably increase the culture of free-loading among the lesser affulents.

The most prominent reason why governments should not provide housing to poor-class is because it will put extreme pressure on the tax payers. A hefty income of the regimes around the world generally comes from the income tax paid by the working class. Normally authority is supposed to spend this tax money for the welfare of the tax contributors. If a state utilizes this wealth to make houses for poor people, who normally do not pay income tax, then working class will have to pay more compared to what they are already paying without getting anything extra in return. So, the money collected from tax payers should be only spent on them and not on the others.

Another reason is that this will promote the culture of non-working among the lesser affulent citizens. Generally, we are taught from a very young age that if we want to achieve something in life then we have to work hard for it. If accommodation is provided free of cost then this will probably end the spirit of hard work among the masses. Individuals will eventually stop working hard because they may start to hope that the regime will pay for their other amenities as well. This could potentially lead to a society where most of the people just wait for grants from governments instead of working to fulfill their basic necessities. For example, recently one of the African countries started paying a fix amount of money to its citizens to end the poverty. This ended as a disaster for that nation's economy because the employment rate reached to record heights due to this policy.

In conclusion, I fully deny to the thought that authorities around the world should pay for the residents of the poor people becuase this will enhance the burden on the tax payers, and it might create a culture where no individual wants to work. Instead, I believe, authorities should give loan to its citizenry to build houses.
