20.2 To what extent do you agree

 

The money spent by governments on space programmes would be better spent on vital public services such as schools and hospitals.

To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Utilization of money by the authorities has always been one of the hot topics of debate. A few people believe that governments ought to prioritize public services compared to space programmes when it comes to spending. I fully agree with the aforementioned statement because, I believe, public sector is the responsibility of the regimes, and private sector is already actively investing the space exploration.

The most prominent reason why governments should give priority to public services over space programmes is the moral responsibility. In most part of the world today, elections are the primary system to elect a rulling party. Durning the elections almost all of the political parties promise for the welfare of the general public. Generally improving public sector is always among those promises. Hence, when these parties come into the power after winning on the basis of their promises, it becomes their moral duty to spend money in the public infrastructure.

Another reason for my support is the ongoing increasing compition in the space sector of the private companies. Outer space is supposed to be full of surprises, and scientists have made countless predictions of the presence of valuable minerals on the bodies in our solar system. Which has started a rat race among private organizations of becoming the first to get access to these minerals. For example, a few months ago, a prestigious university discovered a humangous reserve of one of the rarest element,and probably the most precious as well, in the Earth's crest on our neighbour planet. As a result of which, three renowned private companies have started prepartion to send robots to extract this element.

In conclusion, a goverment should be responsible of investing in public sectors, I believe, because of its moral obligations towars the genral public. Additionally, private sector is already making its efforts in space exploration. We don't know what we will find in the outer space but spending in the general infrastructure should be prioritized by the regimes around the globe.
