19.3 Opinion essay on Environment

Climate change is a big environmental problem that has become critical in last couple of decades. Some people claim that humans should stop burning fossil fuels and use only alternative energy resources, such as wind and solar power. Others say that oil, gas and coal are essential for many industries, and not using them will lead to economic collapse.

One of the hot topics of discussion nowadays is the climate change. A few believe that we should only use renewable energy instead of fossil fuels, whereas others claim non-renewable energy sources to be an integral part of our commercial infrastructure. I believe that instead of instant replacement of the current sources of energy we should consider gradually changing towards the alternatives.

There is no denying to the fact that fossil fuels are responsible for the environment change, and our present industries depend heavily on them hence we should take steps in order to decrease this dependence however this change should be done at a subtle rate. Maximum of our current factories were built during the industrial revolution when the main focus was to maximize the profit for the owner without taking the environmental factors into consideration. Although shutting down all the aformentioned production houses at the same time would mean to call for an economic collapse, introducing new machinery, which will use the renewable energy sources to operate, to one department at a time is feasible, and sooner than we realize, we will probabily be able to replace the all departments without infecting the output.

Furthermore, we should bear in mind that fossile fuels are finite in quantity and they will be depleted at some point of the time hence we should start using the rewable energy sources. These sources of power are extracted from the earth by some form of mining, and several world organizations have already declared that some crucial fossil fuels are already on the verge of extinction. A recent study by the WHO, disclosed that if we countinue to extract the coal at the current rate then probably by the end of the present century there will be no coal left in the earth core.

In conclusion, as the fossil fuels are fixed in quantity, their extinction is inevitable hence I believe we should consider slowly moving towards the alternatives sources of energy by keeping in mind that this transition should be smooth else we would damage the current industrial infrastructure.
