IELTS Essay Task 1: Exports Table

The table below shows the changes in exports in HK billions between 2009 and 2010.

The table shows the alternation in exports in years 2009 and 2010 for five sectors, namely Equipmnet, Telecummunications, Clothing, Manufacturing and Metals along with the overall change. The unit of measurements is $HK billions.

Overall, the export followed an increasing trend except for clothing and manufacturing which displayed a negative change. Metals showed the maximum change while manufacturing showed the minimum change in the given time period. The highest sector and minimum sector in year 2009 were Equipment and metals whereas in 2010 were telecommunications and manufacturing respectively.

Equipment was at the top of the table at 10.3 billion in 2009 when the overall export was 32 billion, and metals was at the lowest point at 2.3 million in the same year. In the coming year, overall value increased by 6.4 to reach 38.4 billion while the sector with maximum export in this year was telecommunication at 12.7 billion and manufacturing with minimum export at 4 billion.

In terms of change, the overall change was 20% with maximum change oberserved by any sector was 122% by Metals and the minimum alternation observed by any sector was -27% by manufacturing. Clothing experienced 17% change in both years to reach from 6 billion to 5 billion.
